Espai Guinovart - Contemporary art - Agramunt

The Espai Guinovart is my favorite place in Agramunt. The building and the work are in perfect harmony. The people who manage the museum convey their enthusiasm for the work with great passion.

Josep Guinovart spent part of the Civil War in the village of his mother, Agramunt, where he lived in a cabin while fleeing from the bombings. This fact links his work significantly to the rural environment and Agramunt.

L' era

The passage of time associated with the era where wheat is threshed in summer.

La cabana

A central oak tree that links with the constellations of the Milky Way, surrounded by the consequences of the Spanish Civil War in the lands of Agramunt.

The color changes that occur in the plain of Lleida are remarkable, from the cultivated fields where poppies emerge to the bare lands and fog.

The building

Convent destroyed by the war, rebuilt by the Devastated Regions organization and converted into a market, it was remodeled in 1990 to house the Espai Guinovart.

Jolonch Chocolat factory of Agramunt

Xolocala Jolonch, which has been manufacturing cocoa tablets to melt and stone chocolate by hand since 1770, has a shop with a cafeteria in its old factory in the Pou square of Agramunt.

The cafeteria is fantastic, with a huge outdoor terrace with swings and parking.

The product is excellent. Personally, I opt for the black hot chocolate with pepper and some churros. The best chocolate I've ever tasted.

It seems to be that in 1940 when Lluís Companys was murdered, his last will was a piece of xocolata Jolonch.

Practicing kayak in the Terradets reservoir

Today we went kayaking with some friends to Cellers. A fantastic holiday ecosystem around the Terradets reservoir.

Ivan from Zenith Aventura, very nice, from the first moment he has tried to motivate us

"It's very windy. You don't have to pay now, you try it and if you see that you are not succeeding, you come back."

In any case, he gave us an accelerated course on how to go kayaking, which allowed us to reach the initial goal of Roures beach with some ease, which gave us the confidence to risk a little more and give it that touch of adventure that makes make the day special.

Afterwards we have gone to have lunch at the Terradets hotel that gives us a wide variety of options, restaurant, buffet and cafeteria with swimming pool.

Restaurant of Hostal Montsec - Santa Maria de Meià

It is a restaurant with two floors, not too big. The one below with a pool table and the one above with some large windows that make it somewhat noisy. There is also a terrace that overlooks the pool with free access for customers.

The cuisine is current, the coffee and the desserts were very good. The fact that only one meal is served at each table (at least on the day we went) invites a gathering, there was a very good atmosphere between the tables.

As restaurant customers have free access to the pool, it is an ideal place for a family with children or a group of friends.

El pilar d'Almenara

The Almenara pillar is a Christian watchtower built shortly after the reconquest on the Bellmunt-Almenara mountain range.

The 15 meter high tower has free access, it is entered by going up an external spiral staircase that leads to two flights of internal metallic and vertical stairs. Going up can become a little adventure.

At the top, a terrace 7 meters in diameter, without railings, which with only about 100 meters above the horizon becomes a fantastic viewpoint over the Urgell plain. With good binoculars it allows us to see a lot of places, such as the Cargol tower, another watchtower located in the Sierra de la Força, in the municipality of Ponts.

A few meters to the east we have the Romanesque church of Sant Vivenç plundered by Republican soldiers to make machine gun nests in the area during the Civil War.

In the photos you can see graffitis, something classic in heritage with free access. As in other spaces, access will end up being restricted. A pity.
I think it is an ideal place to go to see sunsets with good binoculars. We have gone too early and with haze.
